Earth Hour 2013

Earth Hour 2013 will take place from 8.30pm – 9.30pm on Saturday 23 March

Hundreds of millions of people, businesses and governments around the world unite each year to support the largest environmental event in history – Earth Hour.
Earth Hour is organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). With almost 5 million supporters and a global network in over 100 countries/territories, it’s one of the world's largest and most respected independent conservation organisations. WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the Earth's natural environment and build a future where people live in harmony with nature.

Where it began
In 2007, WWF-Australia inspired Sydney-siders to show their support for climate change action in the first ever Earth Hour event. It showed that everyone, from children to CEOs and politicians, has the power to change the world they live in. In Sydney, Australia, 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights out for one hour to take a stand against climate change.
In 2008, the plan was to take Earth Hour to the rest of Australia. But then the City of Toronto, Canada, signed up and it wasn’t long before 35 countries and almost 400 cities and towns were part of the event. It said something compelling to the world: that the climate challenges facing our planet are so significant that change needs to be global.
With the invitation to ‘switch off’ extended to everyone, Earth Hour quickly became an annual global event. It’s scheduled on the last Saturday of every March – closely coinciding with the equinox to ensure most cities are in darkness as it rolled out around the Earth.
In 2011, Earth Hour saw hundreds of millions of people across 135 countries switch off for an hour. But it also marked the start of something new – going Beyond the Hour to commit to lasting action on climate change. In 2012, Earth Hour celebrated its largest event to date with more than 6,950 cities and towns in 152 countries and territories switching off their lights, and with hundreds of thousands of people accepting an IWIYW challenge to take their commitment to the planet beyond the hour. With the power of social networks used to promote the campaign, Earth Hour is working towards an interconnected global community committed to creating a more sustainable planet.
More than 7,000 cities and towns in 152 countries and territories switched off their lights for Earth Hour 2012, sending a powerful message for action to save the planet. This year, more than 200,000 individuals accepting I Will If You Will challenges on YouTube to turn their symbolic action for the planet into an on-going commitment to a sustainable future.

Climate Change
Global warming is the greatest threat facing our planet today. A warming planet alters weather patterns, water supplies, seasonal growth for plants and a sustainable way of life for us, and the world’s wildlife.
A continuous flow of energy from the sun heats the Earth. Naturally occurring gases in the atmosphere, known as greenhouse gases, trap this heat like a blanket, keeping the Earth at an average of 15 degrees Celsius – warm enough to sustain life. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most significant of these gases. The amount of naturally produced CO2 is almost perfectly balanced by the amount naturally removed through photosynthesis and its dissolution in oceans. However, the overuse of fossil fuels is leading to increased CO2 in the atmosphere, trapping more and more heat and warming the Earth.
As a result, we’re seeing more dramatic weather patterns across the globe.  The effects of Earth’s changing weather not only causes devastating natural disasters but shrinking of the world’s ice shelves and glaciers due to warming sea water. Because ice acts as a solar reflector, the less ice there is, the less heat the Earth reflects.
Humanity’s overconsumption of food, material goods, fossil fuels, and non-renewable resources is putting a huge toll on the planet, exceeding its capacity to sustain us.
Forests absorb and remove CO2 from the atmosphere. So areas undergoing excessive deforestation experience higher carbon emissions.  Agriculture is the second largest greenhouse gas emitter after fossil fuels. Methane produced by livestock, manure management, the burning of savannah, and the conversion of forests to pasture land are all major sources of greenhouse gas emissions.
Climate change has already started, but it’s not too late to take action. There’s still time for us all to be part of the solution. Although the journey to a sustainable future may seem difficult to imagine, it is far from impossible. We can all do our part individually and together.
We can celebrate our planet one day a year for Earth Hour – and go Beyond the Hour towards a sustainable future.

Get Involved
Earth Hour is a unique opportunity for you to become more sustainable and do something positive for the environment. It’s been the source of inspiration for millions of people taking steps towards a cleaner, safer future. It’s not just about saving energy for one hour, it’s about going Beyond the Hour with lasting, behaviour-changing actions for a sustainable planet.
There are lots of ways you can take action for Earth Hour. Whether you’re a social media fan or a hands-on organiser, you’re sure to find some inspiration right here!

What Is Love?

“Finally I am coming to the conclusion that my highest ambition is to be what I already am. That I will never fulfil my obligation to surpass myself unless I first accept myself, and if I accept myself fully in the right way, I will already have surpassed myself.”
Thomas Mertin

The media, our families and our friends tell us that our goal is to be somebody. It’s the American Dream. Many of us have chosen a particular career, relationship status or some sort of accomplishment that assure a future of being that somebody, getting somewhere and hopefully being spared from debt, despair, or vulnerability in the process.  There is nothing wrong with having goals or plans but when we use these to overestimate our potential than we let ourselves down and become disappointed.
I have spent over half of my life trying to be the best wife and the best friend only to get rejection, obtaining a university degree and working my butt off in demanding jobs only to be taken for granted,  and after all of this ending up suicidal on a therapist’s couch and escaping into the dark abyss of addiction.  Perhaps this was the best thing that happened because in reaching the bottom and realizing my options, my spiritual journey began.

I have redefined the goal of getting somewhere and being somebody to loving who I already am. Healing comes from within.  I have accepted pain as lovingly and with as much compassion as I would success.  I have and continue to forgive my mistakes and my resentments and overcome my fears. They are the very things that propel me forward into gratitude and self-love – and in turn, love for you.
Place your hand over your heart. Feel that? That’s called purpose. You’re alive for a reason. No matter what your circumstances are, embrace each day. Find one thing you are grateful for in this moment right now. Remember that any struggle is just as important as the lesson and awareness it provides. In the midst of movement and chaos, find serenity within. Love yourself because without you, perfectly imperfect you, the rest of us are without a source or many wonderful things.

I posted this Self Love Poem by Charlie Chaplin previously, but it is fitting to repeat it here:

AS I BEGIN TO LOVE MYSELF
As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth.
Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY”.
As I began to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody As I try to force my desires on this person, even though I knew the time was not right and the person was not ready for it, and even though this person was me.
Today I call it “RESPECT”.
As I began to love myself I stopped craving for a different life, and I could see that everything that surrounded me was inviting me to grow.
Today I call it “MATURITY”.
As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance, I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens at the exactly right moment. So I could be calm.
Today I call it “SELF-CONFIDENCE”.
As I began to love myself I quit steeling my own time, and I stopped designing huge projects for the future. Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, things I love to do and that make my heart cheer, and I do them in my own way and in my own rhythm.
Today I call it “SIMPLICITY”.
As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for my health – food, people, things, situations, and everything the drew me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude a healthy egoism.
Today I know it is “LOVE OF ONESELF”.
As I began to love myself I quit trying to always be right, and ever since I was wrong less of the time.
Today I discovered that is “MODESTY”.
As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worry about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where EVERYTHING is happening.
Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”.
As I began to love myself I recognized that my mind can disturb me and it can make me sick. But As I connected it to my heart, my mind became a valuable ally.
Today I call this connection “WISDOM OF THE HEART”.
We no longer need to fear arguments, confrontations or any kind of problems with ourselves or others. Even stars collide, and out of their crashing new worlds are born.
Today I know THAT IS “LIFE !

And here is an awesome video about love from the movie "The Cure Is":

“When I loved myself enough, I began leaving whatever wasn't healthy. This meant people, jobs, my own beliefs and habits - anything that kept me small. My judgement called it disloyal. Now I see it as self-loving.”

Happy National Braille Week

“Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn't mean he lacks vision”
Stevie Wonder

National Braille Week will be celebrated from 4th -11th January 2013 - more than 200 years after the birth of Louis Braille. And each year 4th January marks World Braille Day commemorating the birth of Louis Braille on 4th January 1809.

Louis Braille was born in a small town near Paris. Playing in his father's leather workshop when he was 4, Louis tried to use a sharp, pointed tool called an awl, used for making holes in leather. He bent over, intending to try making shoes like his father did, but the awl slipped and went into his eye, blinding it.
With sight in just one eye, he attended school for two years, but his other eye became infected by the first, and he became totally blind. He had to leave school because he wouldn't be able to learn much more without eyesight. In those days there was little assistance for blind people, and most blind adults were forced to become beggars in the street as their only means of making any sort of living.
When he was 10, a school for blind boys opened in Paris, one of the first such schools in the world. Louis was lucky enough to be accepted there as a pupil. As in all schools at that time, discipline was harsh, and pupils who misbehaved were beaten, locked up and fed bread and water. Most people left school at the age of 12 in order to work in factories or down mines.
At the school for the blind, pupils were taught practical skills like weaving cane seats on chairs or making slippers so that when they left the school they would be able to earn a living. Once a week, the boys were taken for a walk in the park, linked together by a long rope. They were taught to read but not to write. The writing they read was raised on the page so that they could feel the words with their fingertips. The letters were made by pressing copper wire alphabet shapes into one side of the paper to make a raised shape on the other. It was very difficult to tell the letters apart. Because each letter had to be made out of wire first and then forced into the paper with a press, blind people couldn't write anything for themselves.
In 1821 a soldier named Charles Barbier came to give a talk at the school. He told them about a system he had invented called 'night writing', so that soldiers could pass instructions along at night without having to talk and let the enemy know where they were. Because they couldn't use a light, which would let the enemy spot them, they had to feel the messages. Night writing consisted of twelve raised dots which could be combined to represent different sounds. Unfortunately, this system was too complicated and the army didn't use it.
However, Louis was quick to see the possibilities of the system. He worked over the next few months and came up with a simpler version made up of 6 dots. For several years he developed it further, adding maths and music codes.

In 1827 the first book in braille was published.
It took a while for the system to catch on. Sighted people did not realise how useful it could be, and it was not taught in the school for the blind. However, blind children began learning it in secret. Eventually, the benefits of the system were realised and it was put into use. One major benefit was that at last blind people could write, using a simple tool to make the dots. This was the beginning of true independence for blind people.

Later in life, Louis Braille invented another new method for writing, called raphigraphy. It was a method that enabled both the blind and the sighted to read it, so that now blind people and sighted people could write to each other. He also invented a machine similar to a typewriter that produced raphigraphy.
Louis Braille became a teacher in the school where he had been a student. He did not live to see his system widely used. He had always had poor health, and he died of tuberculosis in 1852, at the age of 43.
So who uses braille? Millions of blind, deafblind and visually impaired people worldwide. In a world where communication is everything, living without it would be impossible.
Braille allows people to read books, exam papers and other important documents that need to be understood to get through life and the working world. It also lets people use computers in a society where technology is used nearly everywhere we go. Even some mobile phones are fitted with braille coding!
Although helping people with braille has been a huge success, there is still lots more to be done. Braille on mobile phones is miles away from developing countries who just can’t afford enough braille books. Some facilities like bank machines and button panels on elevators still don’t have braille. These are basic tasks that should be easy to come by when you’re getting through the day.
When the important day comes around, visually impaired people along with their family and friends, will be taking part in events all around the globe. In the past people have celebrated by taking part in essay competitions or braille readings.
It really is happening everywhere. Postage stamps with Louis Braille’s picture have been published in many places and an asteroid called Braille orbits our planet in space!

Not so easy after all – what do you think?

A Stroke Of Insight

“In the course of four hours, I watched my brain completely deteriorate in its ability to process all information. On the morning of the hemorrhage, I could not walk, talk, read, write or recall any of my life. I essentially became an infant in a woman’s body.”
Jill Bolte Taylor

Jill Bolte Taylor is a neuroanatomist - a brain scientist who studies the anatomy of the brain. Her training is in the postmortem investigation of the human brain as it relates to schizophrenia and the severe mental illnesses.
Dr. Jill experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain in 1996. On the afternoon of this rare form of stroke (AVM), she could not walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. It took eight years for Dr. Jill to completely recover all of her functions and thinking ability. She is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey (published in 2008 by Viking Penguin). In 2008, Dr. Jill gave a presentation at the TED Conference in Monterey, CA, which has become the second most viewed TED Talk of all time. This now famous 18-minute presentation catapulted her story into the public eye. As a result, she was chosen as one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2008. In addition, Dr. Jill was the premiere guest on Oprah's Soul Series web-cast and was interviewed by Oprah and Dr. Oz on The Oprah Winfrey Show in October, 2008.
Dr. Jill is working on the creation of a serious game for health for neurological recovery. She feels passionate about helping others find their way back from neurological trauma. In addition, she is working on her next book and is excited about the upcoming feature film of her life. She has just created Jill Bolte Taylor BRAINS, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing educational services and promoting programs related to the advancement of brain awareness, appreciation, exploration, education, injury prevention, neurological recovery, and the value of movement on mental and physical health, as well as other activities that support this purpose. The Brain Extravaganza! is the not-for-profits first educational awareness program she is bringing to the community of Bloomington, Indiana, and then the world.

Here is a photo of Jill with one of the big brains. This is the right hemisphere of the 'religion' brain sponsored by Rev. Dr. Hal Taylor (her dad) and decorated by Michele Gingras (michelegingras.com, Distinguished Professor at Miami University, Oxford, OH):

Now that is true love!

What is a stroke?
A stroke (sometimes called an acute cerebrovascular attack) is the rapidly developing loss of brain function(s) due to disturbance in the blood supply to the brain. This can be due to ischemia (lack of glucose & oxygen supply) caused by thrombosis or embolism or due to a hemorrhage. As a result, the affected area of the brain is unable to function, leading to inability to move one or more limbs on one side of the body, inability to understand or formulate speech, or inability to see one side of the visual field.
A stroke is a medical emergency and can cause permanent neurological damage, complications, and death. It is the leading cause of adult disability in the United States and Europe. It is the number two cause of death worldwide and may soon become the leading cause of death worldwide.
Symptoms
Stroke symptoms typically start suddenly, over seconds to minutes, and in most cases do not progress further. The symptoms depend on the area of the brain affected. The more extensive the area of brain affected, the more functions that are likely to be lost. Some forms of stroke can cause additional symptoms: in intracranial hemorrhage, the affected area may compress other structures. Most forms of stroke are not associated with headache, apart from subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral venous thrombosis and occasionally intracerebral hemorrhage.
In most cases, the symptoms affect only one side of the body (unilateral). The defect in the brain is ''usually'' on the opposite side of the body (depending on which part of the brain is affected). However, the presence of any one of these symptoms does not necessarily suggest a stroke, since these pathways also travel in the spinal cord and any lesion there can also produce these symptoms.
Prevention
Given the disease burden of stroke, prevention is an important public health concern. Because stroke may indicate underlying atherosclerosis, it is important to determine the patient's risk for other cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease. Conversely, aspirin prevents against first stroke in patients who have suffered a myocardial infarction.
Risk Factors:
·         high blood pressure and atrial fibrillation
·         high blood cholesterol levels
·         diabetes
·         cigarette smoking (active and passive)
·         heavy alcohol consumption
·         drug use, particularly cocaine, amphetamines causing hemorrhagic stroke, but also over-the-counter cough and cold drugs containing sympathomimetics
·         lack of physical activity
·         obesity and unhealthy diet
Treatment
Ideally, people who have had a stroke are admitted to a "stroke unit", a ward or dedicated area in hospital staffed by nurses and therapists with experience in stroke treatment. It has been shown that people admitted to a stroke unit have a higher chance of surviving than those admitted elsewhere in hospital, even if they are being cared for by doctors with experience in stroke.
Other medical therapies are aimed at minimizing clot enlargement or preventing new clots from forming. To this end, treatment with medications such as aspirin, clopidogrel and dipyridamole may be given to prevent platelets from aggregating.
In addition to definitive therapies, management of acute stroke includes control of blood sugars, ensuring the patient has adequate oxygenation and adequate intravenous fluids. Patients may be positioned with their heads flat on the stretcher, rather than sitting up, to increase blood flow to the brain. It is common for the blood pressure to be elevated immediately following a stroke. Although high blood pressure may cause some strokes, hypertension during acute stroke is desirable to allow adequate blood flow to the brain.

A Stroke of insight
Brain researcher Jill Bolte Taylor studied her own stroke as it happened -- and has become a powerful voice for brain recovery.
Jill Bolte Taylor got a research opportunity few brain scientists would wish for:  She had a massive stroke, and watched as her brain functions -- motion, speech, self-awareness -- shut down one by one.  An astonishing story:

“I am the life-force power of the universe. I am the life-force power of the 50 trillion beautiful molecular geniuses that make up my form, at one with all that is.”

Happy New Year 2013

“Another fresh new year is here . . .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!

I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!”

William Arthur Ward

It has just turned 12 midnight on the 31st December 2012 so by the time I post this it will be 2013.

When I look back on 2012, it was not an easy year – but with every challenge comes opportunity.
Career challenges:
·         Wound down my accounting practice in the hopes of getting a full time job.
·         Started my blog.
·         Completed two blog challenges.
·         Signed up for every webinar I could on internet marketing.
Lessons learned:
·         I am too old to be employed!
·         I can write.
·         Blogging is a great way to make new friends and acquaintances.
·         Information overload just leads to confusion!
Personal challenges:
·         Daily work on my recovery.
·         Improving my spiritual awareness.
·         Letting go of limiting beliefs.
·         Living life on life’s terms.
Lessons learned:
·         Helping others makes it easier to help myself.
·         Follow motivating and spiritually minded people.
·         Make peace with the past and live for the moment.
·         Acceptance, forgiveness and unconditional love.

So what is in store for 2013?
I do not believe in New Years’ Resolutions - life is too short to live with regrets.
I do not believe in long term goals – I live life one day at a time.
But I do believe in dreams and inspiring yourself to do your best in all circumstances.

This is a must see:
Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch (Oct. 23, 1960 - July 25, 2008) gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium.  In his moving presentation, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals.
Pausch was included in TIME Magazine's 2008 list of the world's 100 most influential people. His book, "The Last Lecture," co-written by Jeff Zaslow of the Wall Street Journal and based on Pausch's now-famous talk "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," is a New York Times #1 bestseller.

Professor Randy Pausch made a surprise return to Carnegie Mellon University to deliver an inspirational speech to the Class of 2008 at the Commencement ceremony on May 18, 2008.

“Many things are thrown our way in this game of life. It's how you deal with them that shows your true character. I want all of you to feel the hope, love & passion I feel for the upcoming year & the rest of my life. I want ALL of you to not only go for your dreams, but have a damn ass good time doing it!

A Tribute To Zig Ziglar

“Success means doing the best we can with what we have. Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be.”
Zig Ziglar

If one is looking for pleasure in life, they look to their desires. If one is seeking truth, they look for answers. If one wants to get motivated, they pick up a Zig Ziglar book.
On Thursday, Zig Ziglar died of complications from pneumonia at a hospital in Plano, Texas. He was 86 years old. Ziglar had suffered a brain injury after falling down a staircase in 2007.

When one thinks of making a difference in this world, they can think of Zig Ziglar. As a talented author and speaker, his international appeal has transcended every colour, culture, and career.
Zig Ziglar has been a popular figure in the motivational speakers circuit for three decades. He wrote more than 30 books aimed at helping people to lead more productive and balanced lives. His books include Born To Win, Better Than Good, and How To Get What You Want and are available on Amazon.com.
Here are some famous quotes by Zig Ziglar:

“Every choice you make has an end result”
“Remember that failure is an event, not a person”
“You are the only person on earth who can use your ability.”
“Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude”
“Expect the best. Prepare for the worst. Capitalize on what comes”
“People don't buy for logical reasons. They buy for emotional reasons.”
“Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will”
“People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily.”
“If you can dream it, then you can achieve it. You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want”
“If you want to reach a goal, you must "see the reaching" in your own mind before you actually arrive at your goal”
“The foundation stones for a balanced success are honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty”
“You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win”
“It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action, and discipline that enabled us to follow through”
“I believe that being successful means having a balance of success stories across the many areas of your life. You can't truly be considered successful in your business life if your home life is in shambles”

Zig Ziglar - Attitude Makes All The Difference – BRILLIANT:

In all his teachings and motivational speeches, Ziglar had a way with words. He could inspire, enlighten, and encourage people whenever he spoke. He focused on human nature. He challenged people to think creatively and outside the box. He raised the confidence in one’s mind, enlightened their soul, and proved to be more than just the common man.
He may not be with us physically now, but his motivational quotes and books will live on in the minds, hearts and spirits of those who are inspired by him.

“Even in tragedy, God through His word offers hope for those who seek and believe. It starts with the promise of a better tomorrow, of life everlasting, of eternal peace. It’s called faith, and it offers hope where none existed.”

FEATURED EXPERTS

Dr. Bernie Siegel, M.D.
"Absolutely everything that happens in our lives has a spiritual cause. Mental, emotional and physical events are only effects. Your body has a healing order of priority, and the spiritual always comes first. Your body stores your life's memories. When you focus on what is wrong you wound your body and empower your enemy. When you focus on life and living, miracles happen."
Bernie's writings in the 12 books he has published so far reflect his passion to reach people struggling with all of life's challenges—not just the physical ones—so that each person can live life fully with the understanding that, as Bernie reminds us, "We only have today". Believing that we are all here to love one another, Bernie has crafted eternal truths and the timeless wisdom of the ages into his reflections on the true stories of his patients in much of his work.
In May 2011, Bernie was honored by the Watkins Review of London, England, as one of the Top 20 Spiritually Influential Living People on the Planet.

Marianne Williamson
"We know there are people who were told they are going to die within a week who live for another 30 or 40 more years. We do have documented cases where there is a seemingly miraculous cessation of symptoms. And we know these things happen. We know that there are people who were told that they are going to die within a week who live for another 30 or 40 more years. So I think sometimes we think about and study a little bit too much the places where it goes the way we have heard about going in many people, and perhaps we don't study enough: What happened in that place where a miracle occurred?"
Marianne Williamson is an internationally acclaimed author and lecturer. Six of her ten published books have been New York Times Best Sellers. Four of these have been #1 New York Times Best Sellers. A Return to Love is considered a must-read of The New Spirituality.
A paragraph from that book, begins, "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure". Williamson speaks often on the subject of how shifts in thinking from fear to love make all the difference in how we live and how we feel. Learning to think differently to stand psychologically and emotionally.

Gregg Braden
"Now to many people when we think of the heart, we think simply of a pump that moves blood through our bodies and while that is an important function, what the studies are showing is that it may be the least of what our hearts do."

Bruce H. Lipton Phd
How much do genes contribute to the diseases in our world? It turns out far less than 10 per cent. Probably even less than five percent. So wait, if genes are only responsible for five, at most 10 per cent of the illness on our planet, what about the other 90 per cent of the illness? And the answer is that it has nothing to do with genes and has everything to do with..."
Bruce Lipton is an internationally recognized leader in bridging science and spirit. One of the first to conduct stem cell research, a biologist, best-selling author of The Biology of Belief and recipient of the 2009 Goi Peace Award, he has been a guest speaker on hundreds of TV and radio shows, as well as keynote presenter for national and international conference.
His discoveries, which ran counter to the established scientific view that life is controlled by the genes, presaged one of today’s most important fields of study, the science of epigenetics. Two major scientific publications derived from these studies defined the molecular pathways connecting the mind and body. Many subsequent papers by other researchers have since validated his concepts and ideas.
His deepened understanding of cell biology highlighted the mechanisms by which the mind controls bodily functions.

Dr. Joel Fuhrman M.D.
"We put our finger on the primary factors that creates the disease but people have the right to know it."
"I have spent almost all my waking hours reading everything from the site of literature on human nutrition, probably read over 20,000 medical journal articles. And the bottom line is you don't have to have a heart attack, you don't have to have strokes, you don't have to get demented when you get older and yes we can even win the war against cancer."
Joel Fuhrman, M.D. is a board-certified family physician, and nutritional researcher, who specializes in preventing and reversing disease through nutritional and natural methods. He is the author of seven books including a New York Times best-seller. Dr. Sue Morter
"If you are not... as healthy as you would like to be, there is a reason. And it always stems from a basic core belief system. We have limited what is possible for us and what is not possible for us based upon past experiences that we have had. And it is all stored at the subconscious level."
Dr. Sue Morter is an internationally recognized authority on bridging science, spirit and human possibility. Her high-energy platform presence ignites passion, imparts knowledge, and affects audiences around the globe through her keynote addresses, workshops and programs.
Dr. Sue Morter is a leading authority and master of the Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.), a neuro-emotional process that addresses the mind, body, and spirit and their integrated influence on health.

Paul Chek
"It's safe to say that human beings are moving approximately 90 per cent less than they did 40 years ago, yet we maintain the same biology, the same genes, and the same requirements that human beings have had throughout their evolution in nature. If we do not get adequate enough movement we do not pump the body, clean the body and therefore we cannot maintain vitality. A lack of movement is a disease in and of itself and it is easy to cure."
For over 25 years, Chek's unique, holistic approach to treatment and education has changed the lives of thousands of people worldwide. By treating the body as a whole system and finding the root cause of a problem, Paul has been successful where traditional approaches have consistently failed. Paul is the founder of the C.H.E.K (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology) Institute, based in California.
